Jupiter Artland is a contemporary sculpture park – you should definitely go, but you’ll have to wait until it re-opens next year!

So in the meantime here’s a sneaky peak at this hidden gem. The park features specially commissioned work from artists including Anthony Gormley, Cornelia Parker, Anish Kapoor and Charles Jenks. Other highlights include the delicious scones in the cafe, petting the miniature donkeys and marvelling at the immaculately manicured grass on the Jenks.

We filmed this at the fabulous opening event (oh my do they know how to throw a party!) and then spent a second shoot day on a gorgeous summer day filming Peter Liversidge’s ‘Proposal No. 47 A Winter Shadow’ which had just bloomed! Sunburn all round after an afternoon way up high in a cherry picker! But definitely one of our favourite filming days of 2010!

EICC Timelapse 2010

The next stage of development at the EICC, the arrival of a giant crane – a total monster weighing in at around 200 tonnes. The crane construction was shot over 2 days using our Canon 5d with a selection of lenses. Gripping stuff – you’ll never have seen a 200 tonne beast build so fast!!!

The client on this job came to us with a whole load of material which had been shot all over the world – fabulous stuff and really fascinating.  Our job was to archive this extensive library of shots and cherry pick the real stoaters to make a short film which could be used online or as a back drop at conferences and events.

It can be a tricky job pulling together material acquired over a long period of time, covering such a diverse range of detail into a cohesive piece.  In order to do deliver an effective film we came up with a treatment integrating 3d map animations to convey the scale of the companys’ operations as well as an animating text technique to tell the story within that.  A big part of Cairn’s ethos is “Discovering Hidden Value” – the animating text graphic wipe technique allows us to use text statements to tell the story and at the same time reveal the layer hidden underneath.

We also devised a tasty editing technique to deliver interesting round-ups of each section as well as maintaining a good energy throughout.

The music for this film was produced and composed in-house too – we really wanted a sound that would compliment the images so we hunted out some unusual instruments to give the track a world music vibe.

Good stuff and great fun to work on.

There was a distinct frisson of anticipation at LA Media when this job landed – to film Sir Jackie Stewart and fast cars…..The first part of the day was spent in Glasgow at the press launch, which was fittingly held at the newly refurbished RAC building in Blythswood Square.

Then we zoomed over to Knockhill to film the rally drivers and the legend Sir Jackie who was tearing up the track.  Rally cars are incredibly fast, noisy and completely and utterly thrilling – go see, the rally is taking place on 19-21 November , more info:  http://www.eventscotland.org/press/27

The post production was done in house at LA Media including all the colour grading, filtering and effects, original music and sound FX.

…..now off to pop some stickers & a go faster fin on my 1.3 litre fiesta and tear it up Leith Walk through the trams works…..
