Sky – The Journey

When the team at Sky were looking for a short film to present at a conference for senior managers they gave us a buzz. The remit – to present a positive customer journey from the point of view of a potential customer thinking about getting a Sky package to installation and post installation customer service. And, most important it had to have energy and be emotive and inspirational.

The challenge – we had just over a week to come up with a concept, shoot it, edit it and deliver it!!!

As the finished film was to be shown on a massive cinema screen at the O2 Cineworld we shot it HD using the Canon 5d with Red Rock rig and a variety of lenses including a very nice 50mm prime.

In order to pull the narrative together and to provide a bridge between scenarios we devised a 3d graphic animation to visually represent the journey – a galaxy of Sky customers, contact centres, engineers and retail stores. The galaxy shows the communication between the customers and these various points of contact – whizzing through cyber space as neon glowing fibre optic points of light!

Great fun in spite of exceptionally quick turn around – shot in London on Monday & Tuesday, edit, post production, colour grade, audio FX, audio dub on Wednesday & Thursday and delivery on Friday. Phew!

Our latest showreel – but a mere glimpse into the world of LA Media.

There was a distinct frisson of anticipation at LA Media when this job landed – to film Sir Jackie Stewart and fast cars…..The first part of the day was spent in Glasgow at the press launch, which was fittingly held at the newly refurbished RAC building in Blythswood Square.

Then we zoomed over to Knockhill to film the rally drivers and the legend Sir Jackie who was tearing up the track.  Rally cars are incredibly fast, noisy and completely and utterly thrilling – go see, the rally is taking place on 19-21 November , more info:  http://www.eventscotland.org/press/27

The post production was done in house at LA Media including all the colour grading, filtering and effects, original music and sound FX.

…..now off to pop some stickers & a go faster fin on my 1.3 litre fiesta and tear it up Leith Walk through the trams works…..

EventScotland came to us with a problem.  They had the Open Golf Championship coming up & needed an advertisement to run on the event screens….with less than a week to the event LA Media rose to the challenge & got to work composing a piece of music to set the pictures to.  This music had to have a Scottish flavour without being ‘tartan’ & had to be able to create the right emotional response to complement the aerial shots.

The clients were delighted & even more so when we delivered the finished film along with 2 shorter versions, in less than a week.  Problem gone!
