We’ve been spoiled rotten making this – Forth Ports have let us play with some seriously big machines, both on the water, in the air and dock side..another excuse for us to indulge in our hard hat and steel toe capped boot fetish!

The thing about Forth Ports is they have a lot to say about who they are and what they do. So we drafted up a script and then distilled the content into well formed key statements about the company which were then translated into fantastic 2d motion graphic animations.

Filming was planned to cover specific events over a number of months. The aerial shoot finally went ahead after about 10 abortive attempts (thanks to the unpredictable Scottish summer weather).

Music, editing and post production was done in-house at LA Media.

This short film was commissioned as part of a competition proposal to present the EICC’s green awareness and sustainability initiatives. In addition to being submitted as part of the EFQM accreditation the final film was delivered as an online file for the EICC web site to promote the EICC as a business that supports environmental awareness and sustainability practices and values.

We let each team present their particular initiatives – with filming and voice overs all recorded in 1 day and we created a series of lovely, clean 2d motion graphic animations to pull the sections together.

The music that underpins the film was composed and produced in-house as well.

This is our latest 3d animation just delivered to the EICC. It details their exciting expansion which is currently underway and due for completion in 2013. The development will integrate with the current EICC building, creating a huge world class event space.

The 3d animation includes real backgrounds composited into the 3d model – which has meant we can give the new building a context without having the time and expense of building a 3d model of the entire surroundings. This is a major plus for timescales and budget but is also very compelling, allowing the viewer to experience what’s not yet there!

We shot a variety of backgrounds all round the current building on the 5d, some jib mounted and some static to give the animator choice. The reflections of the real backgrounds and sky can be seen in the glass of the model and through various interior window point of view shots.

We’ve also included 3d models of people to help bring the space to life and have intercut the animation with event footage which demonstrates the existing amenities and how this space will connect with the development.

Look out for the next stage of this huge 3d animation which shows the office development and retail space that is also under construction!

When the team at Sky were looking for a short film to present at a conference for senior managers they gave us a buzz. The remit – to present a positive customer journey from the point of view of a potential customer thinking about getting a Sky package to installation and post installation customer service. And, most important it had to have energy and be emotive and inspirational.

The challenge – we had just over a week to come up with a concept, shoot it, edit it and deliver it!!!

As the finished film was to be shown on a massive cinema screen at the O2 Cineworld we shot it HD using the Canon 5d with Red Rock rig and a variety of lenses including a very nice 50mm prime.

In order to pull the narrative together and to provide a bridge between scenarios we devised a 3d graphic animation to visually represent the journey – a galaxy of Sky customers, contact centres, engineers and retail stores. The galaxy shows the communication between the customers and these various points of contact – whizzing through cyber space as neon glowing fibre optic points of light!

Great fun in spite of exceptionally quick turn around – shot in London on Monday & Tuesday, edit, post production, colour grade, audio FX, audio dub on Wednesday & Thursday and delivery on Friday. Phew!

We supported STV Creative who were commissioned to produce the Poppy Scotland TV advert this year.

The ad was shot on the Canon 5d which was mounted on the steadicam rig. The slightly floaty ‘live frame’ movement that the steadicam delivers really compliments the gritty and realistic atmosphere that director Simon Ross was aiming to achieve.

All post production was done in-house at LA Media during which time an insane amount of Hob Nobs were consumed!

Jupiter Artland is a contemporary sculpture park – you should definitely go, but you’ll have to wait until it re-opens next year!

So in the meantime here’s a sneaky peak at this hidden gem. The park features specially commissioned work from artists including Anthony Gormley, Cornelia Parker, Anish Kapoor and Charles Jenks. Other highlights include the delicious scones in the cafe, petting the miniature donkeys and marvelling at the immaculately manicured grass on the Jenks.

We filmed this at the fabulous opening event (oh my do they know how to throw a party!) and then spent a second shoot day on a gorgeous summer day filming Peter Liversidge’s ‘Proposal No. 47 A Winter Shadow’ which had just bloomed! Sunburn all round after an afternoon way up high in a cherry picker! But definitely one of our favourite filming days of 2010!
