This short film was made to advertise a hockey event which is being held in Edinburgh in 2011…..apparently to qualify as a ‘Golden Oldie’ you only have to be 35!  This is aimed attracting hockey lovers from as far afield as New Zealand & Australia, to come to Edinburgh & take part in not only the sport but also to enjoy everything else the city has to offer.

The guys from the Scottish Hockey team had all the moves & this was great fun to film & edit.  We used a lot of motion control & graded the shots to get some great effects.  We also composed & produced the music in-house – the piece gives us a good fast cutting pace which works really well with sport.

Still feeling slightly raw that age 35 is considered ‘Oldie’ though!

There are many things I love about production but one of my favourite things is getting out and about….we end up in some weird and wonderful places.  This was a glorious day for filming and what with my passion for heavy machinery, high visibility gear and steel toe-cap boots, I was in heaven!

We filmed some cracking stuff & had fun back in the edit motion re-mapping the vessels we filmed from the back of the pilot boat, whose crew were miffed that the media softies managed to keep down their macaroni cheese!

This is part of a much bigger project but it was so exciting I wanted to share a taster in the meantime.

EventScotland came to us with a problem.  They had the Open Golf Championship coming up & needed an advertisement to run on the event screens….with less than a week to the event LA Media rose to the challenge & got to work composing a piece of music to set the pictures to.  This music had to have a Scottish flavour without being ‘tartan’ & had to be able to create the right emotional response to complement the aerial shots.

The clients were delighted & even more so when we delivered the finished film along with 2 shorter versions, in less than a week.  Problem gone!
