LA Media Films The West Highland Way Run Using Drones
LA Media was recently asked to capture drone footage for the exciting BBC Adventure Show. In this episode, they needed drone cameras to capture a unique perspective of the notorious West Highland Way Run. 2016 marked the 32nd running of this great race and we were proud to be a part of it and capturing it on film.
Not for the faint of heart, The West Highland Way Run is a 96-mile race from Glasgow to Fort William. Opening in the 80s, it is considered to be one of Scotland’s most popular long-distance trails. You may think 96 miles is already super hard but in reality it is much tougher than its lengthy distance. During the race, the runners cover roughly 15,000 feet in ascent and descent. Yikes right?

Out of the 199 runners who participated, 159 managed to complete this grueling run. This year’s winner, James Stewart, completed this mammoth race in a mere 15 hours and 15 minutes. He won by 17 minutes, what a machine! That makes us tired just thinking about it. Luckily for us, we didn’t have to trek all that way with our equipment. Instead, using our Inspire Drone, we filmed a number of select scenic locations along the route, including the Devil’s Staircase.
