Forth Bridge - A Bridge Too Far?

LA Media were commissioned by a Japanese documentary team to record drone shots of the Forth Bridge, one of three bridges that now span the Firth of Forth in Scotland.  It was a beautiful day and the unique and intimate views that the drone team captured have resulted in this engaging film.

Project Editor Mike Jameson (LA Media) put these drone shots together and then composed and performed the original and atmospheric music track featured in the film.

The Forth Rail Bridge shots were innovative in their composition and unique in their perspectives. The drone team even managed to detail the 'rivets' used on this cantilevered, engineering wonder.  The astonishing metal tracery of the Rail Bridge is made even more impressive by the drone slowly drifting across it using a telephoto lens.

The Forth Rail Bridge is a real flying challenge for any drone team. The amount of metal combined with the proximity of the drone results in dangerous internal, drone compass errors. That means that while flying a drone the pilot has no GPS assistance and therefore has to be at the top of their game.

While the drone team were on location, it was Business Devcopement Manager Louise Adams (LA Media) in her office in Edinburgh, who was tracking and monitoring all train activities crossing the bridge. Louise gets all the credit for ensuring sure that the drone team was in the air at the right time to capture the wonderful shots of trains crossing the bridge.
